One-to-One counselling for individuals
Therapy can be a place to slow things down and think clearly.
People often arrive in crisis, with something specific that is troubling them, but just as often there is a more general sense of being stuck, unsettled, or caught in patterns that don’t quite make sense. You may feel conflicted, dissatisfied, or aware that you keep finding yourself in the same situations despite your best efforts.
I offer a safe, reflective space in which to explore whatever may be going on.
My approach is integrative, informed primarily by relational, Transactional Analysis, psychodynamic, and humanistic traditions. I’m interested in how present difficulties are shaped by longer-term patterns, assumptions, and ways of relating that have developed over time. Many of the strategies we carry through life once served a useful purpose, even if they now feel restrictive or out of step with who we are.
I work in a collaborative and exploratory way. Therapy, as I see it, is a process of understanding — of making sense of experiences, reactions, and recurring themes. When things become clearer, change often follows without being forced.
Sessions are conversational, thoughtful, and guided by your concerns. There is no pressure to present yourself in any particular way.
If you are considering therapy but are unsure where to begin, an initial session can simply be a chance to talk things through and see whether the way I work feels like a good fit.
I work from my home office in York, or on Zoom.
Sessions are 60 minutes in length, ideally weekly. Contact me to arrange an initial conversation.
